VAKUUTUS
Jokaisella Suomen Taitoluisteluliiton jäsenseurassa luistelevalla tulee olla luistelupassi ja harrastuksen kattava tapaturmavakuutus. Kooveen toimesta kaikki alle 15-vuotiaat luistelukoululaiset vakuutetaan Suomen Taitoluisteluliiton luistelukoulupassilla. Vakuutusta varten pyydämme luistelukoululaisten huoltajia luomaan ennen luistelukouluun ilmoittautumista lapselle oman Sportti ID -tilin Suomisport järjestelmään. Lisää luistelukoululaisen kahdeksan (8) numeroinen Sportti ID numero myClubin jäsenprofiiliin ”Lisenssi ID” -kohtaan ja tallenna se osaksi jäsentietoja Kooveen myClub järjestelmässä. Mikäli luistelukoululaisella on jo entuudestaan Sportti ID -tunnus (esimerkiksi jonkin muun lajin parista), niin voitte lisätä sen suoraan myClub profiilin ”Lisenssi ID” -kohdan alle.

WELCOME TO KOOVEE’S SKATING SCHOOL!
WHO IS IT FOR
Koovee’s skating school groups are intended for children under school age (3–6-year-olds) and school-aged children and youth (7–15-year-olds). Child & adult group is for children aged 2–5 years who need the support, encouragement and motivation of a familiar adult to start skating school. Additionally, we offer Jääkiteet group for 2–3-year-olds.
The foundation of all our coaching and instruction is continuing education and up-to-date knowledge of both children’s coaching and physical training. In addition to our regular skating school instructors, we ensure that there are enough assisting instructors from our club to help even the youngest skaters off to a great start at the beginning of skating school. At the beginning of both the autumn and spring seasons, you will be welcomed at the ice rink by a member of our staff. They will answer your questions and provide you with the latest information about our skating school.
ARRIVING AT THE SKATING SCHOOL AND ICE RINK
We recommend arriving at the ice rink about 10–15 minutes before the start of practice with a positive attitude. The rink and dressing room numbers used by Koovee’s skating school are displayed on the TV screens located in the entrance hall of the ice rink. The dressing rooms reserved for skating school participants are intended for changing into skating gear and tying skates. During skating sessions, the dressing rooms may become quite crowded, so we kindly ask everyone to be patient. When everyone arrives at the ice rink on time, the children can go onto the ice as soon as the session begins and lessons can start promptly. This allows the instructors to focus on supervising and teaching all the children.
Please note that children are not permitted to go onto the ice unaccompanied. At the start of each skating school session, an instructor will escort the skaters from the dressing room to the ice. Parents are welcome to accompany their child to the dressing room and are warmly invited to watch the skating school session from the spectator stands. We kindly ask that the area beside the rink boards (the players’ bench area) be kept clear. Our coaches and instructors will ensure that the children get safely onto and off the ice.
EQUIPMENT
Helmet
All skating school participants are required to wear a helmet during skating school sessions. Please note that in accordance with the insurance terms, insurance coverage is valid during skating school’s ice sessions only if a helmet is worn. Skaters in our skating school’s continuation groups (Temppuillen Taitavaksi) may also use a protective headband instead of a helmet.
Skates
Well-fitting skates that provide good ankle support help children skate more effectively. Figure skates with toe picks are required as the skater progresses in the sport, but beginners are also welcome to try skating in hockey skates or training skates without toe picks.
Skates play a crucial role in figure skating. Providing your child with quality figure skates from the very beginning creates the best conditions for learning the fundamentals of skating. Choosing the right skates depends on several factors, including training frequency, the skater’s size, skating experience and foot width. For this reason, skate purchases should always be made in consultation with a specialist figure skating retailer. Figure skating boots are specifically designed to support the skater’s ankle in an upright position, allowing the skater to focus on skating rather than stabilizing the foot. Figure skating blades are designed to provide balanced gliding and make it easier to rise onto the toe picks when needed.
Blade sharpening
Figure skating blades should always be sharpened before first use and regularly thereafter. Properly sharpened blades support the learning process and make skating easier.
Clothing
Skating school participants should wear warm, flexible and comfortable clothing. Dressing in layers helps keep skating enjoyable, while flexible clothing allows for unrestricted movement, and tight-fitting garments help prevent the skate blades from catching on clothing. Hands should be kept warm with gloves. Headwear should fit snugly so that it doesn’t slip over the face and fits comfortably under a helmet. For an extra touch of skating style, a skirt can be worn over training tights if desired.
COMMUNICATION
Communication regarding skating school takes place primarily via email. If the guardian’s email address changes after registration, please update the address directly in the child’s member profile in the myClub registration system.

FEES
Our skating school operates in two seasons: the autumn season and the spring season. There are typically 14–15 skating sessions in the autumn and 10–14 sessions in the spring. The autumn season runs from early September until December, and the spring season continues until the end of March or April, depending on ice availability. Registration is open separately for the autumn and spring seasons.
The current skating school fees for both the autumn and spring seasons are updated here. An invoice is generated automatically through the myClub system upon registration and is sent to the guardian’s email address.
If more than one child from the same family is enrolled in Koovee Figure Skating Club, a 15% sibling discount applies. To receive the discount, when registering the second child, select the optional payment item –15% off the lower training fee.
You are welcome to try our skating school once free of charge. After the second session, the full seasonal fee will be invoiced. Please register for the skating school group before attending the trial session, so that you receive all the necessary information for your first practice and can secure your place in the group. This also allows us to arrange enough instructors once we know the exact number of participants.
INSURANCE
Everyone who skates in a member club of the Finnish Figure Skating Association (Skating Finland) must have a skating licence and accident insurance that covers the sport. At Koovee, all skating school participants under the age of 15 are insured through the Finnish Figure Skating Association’s skating school licence.
Before registering for skating school, the participant’s guardian must create a Sportti ID account for the child in the Suomisport system. Add the child’s eight-digit Sportti ID to the “Licence ID” field in the member’s myClub profile and save it as part of the member information in Koovee’s myClub system. If the child already has a Sportti ID (for example, from another sport), you can simply enter it directly in the “Licence ID” field of the myClub profile.
