Statement of the track supervisor

The three-day Tampere-suunnistus will held in Hervanta, Tampere.
Friday’s sprint competition will be run in the proven area of last year’s Finnish Championship Knock-Out sprint. The map is good and updated, showing all the relevant changes and a few prohibited areas.

Tampere-suunnistus forest races on Saturday and Sunday competes in the familiar ”Rusko-Hervanta” area. Both family houses and industrial properties have been built and are being built in the area. The brokenness of the area and the terrain areas forbidden by the land-owners have set additional challenges for the course setters. Taking these factors into account, the orienteering courses have been well planned, meeting the requirements of both Saturday’s middle distance and Sunday’s long distance. Sunday’s long distance has a lot of long route selection legs and the race is physical, due to the tough terrain and smaller hills. The map is good and describes the terrain accurately. The description of the stones is varied, although clear. In areas with a lot of stones, only the largest ones (>1.5m) are on the map, while in areas with fewer stones, clear smaller stones (1.5m) are shown on the map.

Childrens courses are designed to be safe and at right level despide of demanding terrain.

Enjoy!
